The Matryoshka Theorem
Approaching Trans-Generational Trauma at the Lighthouse
The Matryoshka Theorem focuses on the idea that trauma travels through generations until someone is ready to feel it. The working hypothesis put forward is that pain demands to be felt, and somewhere along the family-generations, a child will be born whose charge is to feel all of it, and possibly acknowledge, own, honour and heal the generational trauma.
At the Lighthouse Psychotherapy Centre, we work on the intergenerational transmission of trauma across generations and across types of trauma, wherein we analyse the dynamics as to how this phenomenon is perpetuated across generations. We believe that clients, through their creative adjustments, will carry the label of their gift as depressed or anxious, or any other mental disorder. We then work through the field which contains parental emotional heritage, as the pains in previous generations affect the emotional well-being, and the way the second and third generations react to previous life events. Our work is on one part therapeutic and historical and on the other analytical and critical and we work with the subject matter has been the substance of your life.
Each session is co-lead by Two Therapists who will assist the couple to develop coping skills, increase resilience, and create positive emotional patterns. Working from an inherited family trauma / intergenerational perspective clients will be supported to transform old relational patterns into newer and healthier interactions.
The Team will utilise an intergenerational model to help couples find their core strengths and solutions on their journey. Lighthouse Psychotherapy Malta has extensive experience with clients who have experienced infidelity issues
